Our Message is Simple. Honor God by Honoring the Sabbath.

God put it on my heart to encourage believers to go back to church and unbelievers to consider the idea of going to church. The COVID scare has contributed to the problem of reduced church attendance. It has also come to my attention that society in the U.S. has profoundly changed for the worse. I attribute this change to the fact that 60 years ago we stopped honoring God by breaking his commandment of “Keep Holy the Lord’s Day”. In the past, we had law’s called “Blue Laws” which prohibited COMMERCE on Sunday. At that time Sunday was truly a time of rest, a time to visit with family and friends and to honor God by “Keep Holy the Lord’s Day”. I am not advocating that we go back to the days where we had law’s that restricted commerce but am suggesting that we as a nation decide if we are going to “Trust in our Money” or “Trust in God” and receive His gift of spiritual and physical rest.

Simple Ideas,
Real Impact.

Driven by a love for God and a reminder for the purpose of his commandment to Keep Holy the Lord’s Day. This is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution. Let’s create something meaningful together.

When God put this idea on my heart, I felt like He was saying to promote this idea by designing bumper stickers to be placed on your car. I wasn’t sure I was hearing from God regarding the bumper sticker idea. But if you have ever read the Bible you know God has a habit of doing things that don’t always make sense to us (i.e. Build and ark and place two of every kind of animal in it and prepare for a great flood; or march around an enemy city 7 times, shouting and the walls of the city will fall down; or spitting on the ground and applying mud to a blind man's eyes and he received his sight, etc.). The more I thought about the bumper sticker idea I realized that it would be an inexpensive and unique way to promote the idea.

If the body of Christ (the CHURCH) looks at this as a MINISTRY and not as a tacky bumper sticker defacing their precious car, then it will accomplish its purpose. I know there are many great ministries doing great work, but the "Bible Believing Church" is one of the main vehicles God uses to communicate His message throughout the world. Remember “FAITH COMES BY HEARING AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD" .

God put it on my Heart.

Why is this important? God commanded us to “Keep His Day Holy”, it wasn’t a suggestion but a commandment. Most people don’t have a problem keeping the other commandments i.e. “Don’t kill”, “Don’t steal”, Don’t Bare False Witness Against your Neighbor”, etc. but when it comes to the first  commandments, “You shall have NO other gods before Me” or “You shall not take God’s name in vain” or “Keep Holy the Lord’s Day” they seem to have amnesia. I know we aren’t saved by just going to church, but it was SO important to God that he made a COMMANDMENT regarding it. In fact God placed the Jewish people in exile to the Babylon kingdom for seventy years to make up for the seventy years that they defiled the land by not honoring the Sabbath by “Keeping it Holy”. I have heard some Christian ministers say that “Keeping Holy the Sabbath/Lord's day” is the only commandment that is not important NOW that Jesus has provided purification from sin for believers and salvation by grace. I believe grace is synonymous with “Spiritual Rest” and honoring the Sabbath by keeping it Holy is honoring God’s gift of Rest for our bodies, our spirits and worship of Him.

Work and Rest. God’s Design.

  • Exodus 20:8-11

    a. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY KEEPING IT HOLY. SIX DAYS YOU SHALL LABOR AND DO YOUR WORK, BUT THE SEVENTH DAY IS A SABBATH TO THE LORD....For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the SABBATH day and made it HOLY.

NOTE: God is saying, it is good to work for 6 days but the seventh day is HIS (to be honored, remembered, acknowledged as GOD and creator of all things) just like our Tithe offering (one tenth) is His for the support of the church.

  • Exodus 20:2

    b. “I am the Lord your God, …. You shall have no other gods before me”.

  • Exodus 20:4-5

    c. “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them”.

  • Exodus 20: 7

    d. “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God”.

If you don’t believe the first sentence of the Bible, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth….” Then you probably don’t believe that he wrote the 10 commandments on stone tablets and gave them to the prophet Moses for the Jewish people and for all people. As the creator of all things, He has the right to set standards for nature as well as for all humankind.

I realize that life in the 21st century seems far removed from many of the thoughts, stories and ideas found in the Bible but if one sees life today for what it is “Confusing” we can see mankind still hasn’t figured it out yet. Maybe those stories, principles, and words from God's Word (the Bible) would solve many of our problems.

We ask God to Bless America all the time, but we don’t want to honor Him as God. We have pushed him out of our public squares, schools, public gatherings, court system and workplaces. It has been said that America began to change when we removed prayer from our schools, but I think it was when we started breaking the commandment to “Keep Holy the Lord’s Day”.

When God commanded mankind to “Keep Holy the Sabbath Day” it was to remind mankind of who he is, to honor him as God/Creator and to pass on this idea from generation to generation. He knew mankind likes to think we are creators and masters of our own destiny, thus the original sin of pride. Another scripture in the book of Hebrews comes to mind 3:3-4 “Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything”. This scripture is pointing out that man shouldn’t worship creation (i.e. the earth, nature, environment, etc.) and ignore the Creator of all things.

In honoring the Sabbath Day, God gave mankind a gift a “A Day of Rest” a time to connect with family, friends and a time to remember God as creator and Savior but we have corrupted this "Gift of Rest" and exchanged it for work 24/7.

ISAIAH 58:13,14

“IF YOU KEEP FROM BREAKING THE SABBATH AND FROM DOING AS YOU PLEASE ON MY DAY, IF YOU CALL THE SABBATH A DELIGHT AND THE LORD'S HOLY DAY HONORABLE, AND IF YOU HONOR IT BY NOT GOING YOUR OWN WAY AND NOT DOING AS YOU PLEASE OR SPEAKING IDLE WORDS, THEN YOU WILL FIND JOY IN THE LORD AND I WILL CAUSE YOU TO RIDE IN TRIUMPH….”.

HEBREWS 4:9; “There remains, then a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rests also rests from his own work, just as God did from his”.

CONCLUSION: I am not so naive to believe placing a bumper sticker on our vehicles will solve our problems. This will be one of many witnessing tools God is using to wake up the general public to our spiritual problem. Passing more laws, spending more money and being environmentally conscious won't be the cure. If you read the books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel in the old testament and see how God corrected the sins of the Jewish nation and think this can't happen to America, we are fooling ourselves. God revealed Himself to mankind through His WORD revealed to the PROPHETS, the JEWISH PEOPLE, and to all people by JESUS through the CHURCH.  America isn't mentioned once in the bible and we aren't being judged today by Old Testament rules and traditions but we can begin our spiritual healing by showing RESPECT an AWE for God as Creator and Savior.

About
Keep Holy the Lord’s Day.

I’m a retired contractor and a believer in God our father. This isn’t a large organization. I’m one man with a simple mission that was laid on my heart. Our society is overrun by anxiety, overwhelm, long to do lists, and the list goes on. We are tired and keep pushing to do more and more. I’m all for working hard and achievement and God called us to rest. Not only to spend a day each week focused on him but also to rest our bodies and souls. I hope you implement God’s commandment and that your rested heart will create a ripple affect for those around you to see the wonders it’s doing in your life.
